ACUPUNCTURE
Comprehensive Medicine
Perhaps the most familiar modality offered by Chinese Medicine practitioners, acupuncture utilizes thin needles placed at specific meridian points on the body. Stimulation of these points shifts the nervous system from being in a sympathetic state (“flight or fight”) to a parasympathetic state (“rest and digest”).
Most people describe the treatment as being deeply relaxing, with effects lasting well beyond their treatment. Decreased inflammation, relief from stored tension, improved sleep quality, cellular regeneration and improved digestion are just some examples of bodily improvements linked to the deep states of relaxation that are made possible with acupuncture.
Why try acupuncture?
Stress, sports injuries, irregular diet, life changes, environmental toxins and poor sleep are all factors that can disrupt the body’s ability to respond harmoniously to the surrounding changes.
The various natural modalities utilized in TCM assist individuals in restoring the body’s balance, leading to greater physical vitality, mental clarity and emotional wellbeing.
How it works.
Life’s energy force, called Qi, flows along pathways, or meridians, in the body. These channels traverse the body’s surface and connect internally to the organs. By stimulating specific points along meridians, imbalances and blockages are cleared and Qi is able to flow. Unobstructed Qi flow allows the cells of the body to gain and maintain optimum function.
